Triumph Boats Design

Certified Master Tech for Triumph Boats on-site & authorized for Roplene Repairs.

About Triumph Boats’ tough construction:

DESIGNING

First, our engineers create some of the world’s most innovative designs. Using solid modeling CAD, advanced finite element analysis software and extensive testing, they maximize Roplene’s® incredible resilience, strength and shock absorbing characteristics. The resulting designs are as stylish as they are functional.

COOKING

Each design that makes the grade is passed onto our tooling department to be transformed into a state of the art, CNC’d, TIG welded all-metal mold capable of withstanding our 500°F+ molding process. Once completed, every mold is loaded with our proprietary polymer and moved into the world’s largest computer-controlled oven of it’s kind. Each second of the baking process is monitored by advanced sensors and fine-tuned along the way. Storage boxes, gunwales, transom, hull, deck cap - everything is molded into a single seamless piece.

COOLING

Once the computer confirms the cooking process is complete and all material is properly distributed, the mold moves to the cooling process. During cooling, the mold is precisely rotated while the computer program continues to monitor the process, controlling cooling rate the entire time ensuring a consistent, high-strength boat from bow to stern.

INJECTING
After seperating the two halves of the mold and removing the virtually completed boat, we inject high density, 20lbs.-per-cubic-foot foam into the transon and 3lbs.-per-cubic-foot foam into the sidewalls and interior cavities of the hull and deck, far surpassing the U.S. Coast Guard requirements for both foam quality and volume.

ASSEMBLING

Step five is equally thorough. Production teams align subassemblies using locator points molded in the hull. Each installation is double checked against master patterns and templates. Triumph’s CNC router forms decks, hatches and other parts to hair’s-breadth tolerances. Fuel tanks are pressure-tested twice to ensure airtight integrity. Electrical systems feature corrosion resistant solder coated copper wire along with sealed terminals and connectors for trouble-free service. Every step in the process is documented and inspected again to ensure a lifetime of carefree enjoyment.

C-Dory 26′ Venture - Description

March 19, 2008 Author: BoatMaster

C Dory Venture 26′This new model from C-Dory boats features a deeper V and a little more deadrise which provides smoother riding in the open water. It is made with high-density foam, fiberglass and resin.

Maneuverability at speed is balanced and predictable, even in heavy seas. The boat holds her course with little effort. The hull’s near flatness toward the stern and reverse chines greatly reduces the rolling motions, making cruising in rough water much more pleasant. Fishermen will love the way the boat tracks at trolling speeds, allowing the focus to remain on the fishing. And with only 8” of draft and a thick bottom she can easily be beached or anchored for beach combing adventures.

C Dory VThe cabin with over 6’4” of headroom provides cozy shelter. It features a comfortable seating, sleeping area & pilot’s station with excellent all-around visibility. Our Venture models are fully lined with marine foam insulation and covered with marine vinyl.

The cabin layout is simple. On port side of the isle there is a collapsible table that levels for a bunk. A forward facing seat facing toward the table and a reversable seat on the front end of the table. On the starboard side is a full galley with helm, sink, stove a place for a 2.7 cubic foot refrigerator and standup head and shower. Plenty of storage is found in the cabin. The forward section of the cabin features a 6’4” “V” double berth, two reading lights, a large deck hatch and a privacy curtain which provides seperation from the rest of the cabin.

Cushions are made of high quality foam covered with durable ‘Sunbrella’ boat canvas. The colors coordinate with the exterior trim. All of the cushions can be removed so the interior can be cleaned easily.

The electrical system provides spare switches fuse holders and ground terminals for additional accessories.

The windows are Diamond Sea Glaze safety glass in aluminum frames that are powder coated to match the color of the boat. Electric wipers are standard. Side windows slide open and have screens, together with the large forward deck hatch and the standard center opening window the cabin can be amply ventilated.

All deck hardware is stainless steel and through bolted. The top deck is a very healthy 3/4” thick. Deck hardware includes (5) through bolted SS cleats 4 of which are mounted at a 45 degree angle. Downriggers or other equipment requiring a sturdy mount base can be bolted on any top-walking surface. The bow rail and handholds on the top and rear of the cabin are also through bolted.

Both the cockpit sole and the top walk decks have a very aggressive nonskid. The surface is a molded in diamond pattern.

The 26′ C-Dory Venture comes standard with a 100 gallon fuel system located under the motor well. In between the fuel tanks there is a 1100 GPH Automatic bilge pump.

The motor well can accommodate a matched pair of twin motors or a large main & small auxiliary motor package. C-Dory is a strong promoter of the 4 stroke outboards and the latest technology in 2 stroke motors.

Maximum power is 200Hp. Generally you will find 15 to 20 MPH to be most comfortable. The boat planes quickly (9-10 MPH) and without the bow rising high obstructing vision ahead.

The 190 Bay - A perfect, all-purpose fishing boat.

Triumph 190 Bay

Length Overall: 18′ 6″
Beam: 8′ 1″
Draft: 11″
Deadrise: 14°
Cockpit Depth: 25″
Dry Weight w/o Engine: 1,800 lbs.
Maximum Horsepower: 150 HP
Maximum Engine Weight: 510 lbs.
Transom Height: 20″
Capacity: 1,535 lbs.
Maximum Persons: 6
Fuel Capacity: 39 Gallons
Overall Length of Boat Motor Trailer: 25′ 3″
Overall Height of Boat & Trailer: 7′ 8″
Bridge Clearance: 60″
Bridge Clearance with T-top: 95″

Triumph Boats’ 190 Bay is perfectly equipped for lake, bay or coastal fishing.  With an 11″ draft and a stepped transom, it’s one of the first bay boats capable of traversing extremely shallow water.  The 190 Bay also sports an 8-foot beam for generous cockpit space and stability, raised casting platforms, forward and aft, and generous storage for plenty of gear.  Impervious to the harshest environments, it will keep its new-boat look for decades.  You, on the other hand, should be so lucky.

I consider this boat to be the BEST combination for both inshore saltwater and lake fishing. I usually fish alone or with one partner, but have found the boat able to accommodate a larger party of fishermen with no crowding.

It is a stable fishing platform that gives me a dry ride even when the chop kicks up. I have no problem fishing the local kelp beds in the ocean areas around San Diego for Kelp Bass, Sand Bass, Yellowtail, Barracuda and other species and; will not hesitate to travel offshore a reasonable distance. It gives me a great bait tank forward of the console and a good size cooler under the helmsman’s seat. I have ample rod racks and plenty of dry storage.

The boat does very well in the small lakes surrounding San Diego. Because of the shallow draft, It works just like a bass boat with the forward seating and an electric trolling motor. I use the bait tank as a live well on these occasions. However, the Triumph really shines in the big Western impoundments such as Lake Havasu and Lake Mead. The Triumph gives me the speed to reach schools of surfacing stripers but still enables me to enter coves where a deeper draft boat would ground. Additionally, those lakes can kick up some pretty choppy water in the afternoons and I am always glad of the stability of the Triumph.

It is light weight and easy to tow and launch. A perfect all purpose fishing boat for both salt and fresh water.

Buying a Boat? Here’s a Simple How-To.

March 12, 2008 Author: BoatMaster
  1. BoatChoose the right boat. Narrow your choices to a short list of boat categories and make short lists of features that you require, features that you would like, and features that you want to stay away from.
  2. Visit a boat show and choose the right dealer. Once you have narrowed your category choices down, then the real fun begins. It’s time to go shopping. Visit a local boat show and board as many no-nonsense boats as you can. Consider all available options. For a list of boat shows in your area, click here. Remember, you are interviewing your dealer as well as searching for the perfect boat. You want to find the right boat-brand-dealer combination. Ask similar questions to each dealer to compare apples to apples. You may not know the exact boat that you want yet, but you know what kind of experience and service that you want to have, so don\’t be afraid to ask the hard questions.

Quieter Engines more Fuel Efficent?

March 10, 2008 Author: BoatMaster

 Evinrude Outboard Motor Test

Outboard Engines: 38% more fuel efficient, quieter and better for the environment

A recent study of outboard motors yielded evidence that quieter motors are also more fuel efficient as well as better for the environment.  The test was run on a 1988 Evinrude outboard motor versus a 2008 Evinrude outboard motor.  The results of the test were as follows:

A comparison of the two engines:

  • The 2008 motor was 38% more fuel efficient than the 20-year old version
  • Based on Friday’s fuel prices at the dock, this equates to a savings of $16 per hour
  • The most startling difference between the two motors was when both were started – the 2008 hummed quietly as it warmed up, while the 1988 motor gargled and spewed smoke and fumes for several minutes

Trailers

Learn more about C Dory boats, boat trailers and complete boat service at Bulldog!

Boat TrailersThere are many kinds of trailers, steel, aluminum, galvanized, anodized, painted, with brakes, without brakes, float on, winch on, with rollers, with bunks, and so on. Which one is right for you? First look around, what do the others in your area use most? There may be a good reason. If you boat in salt water, you pretty much have to use an aluminum or galvanized trailer if you want it to last. If you boat only in freshwater a painted trailer is OK.

If your boat is light (under 2000 pounds fully loaded), then you probably only need a single axle trailer. If your boat is over 2500 pounds fully loaded, then dual axles (4 tires), and brakes are a good idea. Check your state’s laws, you might have to have brakes.

Trailer brakes come in three types. Electric brakes, which are controlled from a controller in the car, some folks don’t like them because the claim that they are more subject to rust (I have not seen that). Hydraulic brakes come as either old style drum brakes, or new style disk brakes. The Stainless Steel disk brakes seem to be gaining in popularity, since they are simple, have few moving parts, and provide very positive stopping.

Both use hydraulic cylinders that are part of the hitch. As the car slows and the boat pushes against the hitch, it activates the brakes in proportion to the force. Unlike electric brakes there doesn’t need to be any wiring or modification to the car (you don’t need a specially rigged car to tow a trailer with hydraulic brakes). However, if you have disk brakes it is advisable to have a reverse lockout, the disables the brakes when you back up. Otherwise the brakes can prevent you from backing the boat up the driveway. The lockout us a hydraulic solenoid valve that is activated by the backup lights (one extra wire).

Whatever trailer you choose, make sure that it fits your boat. It should be not only the right length, but the right width and the right weight carrying capacity (an 18′ boat can weigh 1500 to almost 4000 pounds). Also it is very important to have the trailer adjusted to support the boat properly, both to protect the hull and to secure it properly.

THE BIGGEST, BADDEST TRIUMPH EVER

WHO’S AFRAID OF THE BIG BAD BOAT? “FISH & OUR COMPETION:

SOMETIME SIZE DOES MATTER! Especially when there’s a lot of motion in the ocean. Thats why triumph created the 235CC, the worlds largest rotationally-molded boat. At 23 feet 8″ it’s pure-busting beefiness. In fact, they challenge anyone to find another boat under 30 feet that rides better in rough water. From stem to stern, the 235 is designed for the hard core fisherman - big time. One hundred fifty gallons of storage, a cockpit the depth of one you’d find on a 32′, a deluxe bait prep station and bucket helm seats with flip-up bolsters make it the biggest, baddest boat in it’s class.

Great Advice

March 4, 2008 Author: BoatMaster

C DoryOnce you fall in love with power boating there’s no turning back. It’s in your blood forever. Shopping for a new boat can be challenging. So many decisions to be made and so many things to consider. It’s often a bigger decision than buying a car, which is essentially a means of transportation to get you from point A to point B. A boat is usually a multipurpose investment that can be used for waterskiing, wakeboarding, barefooting, tubing, jumping, fishing, riding to your favorite hangout, weekend getaways, and more. And each of these events sometime require different qualities in a boat to get the best performance.

I was recently shopping for a new boat and needed some really good info on how to choose the one that’s right for me.  Luckily I stumble on the above article and it was a huge help.  When you add in all the expert advice I received from your staff there’s just no way to go wrong when buying with Bulldog Boatwerks!
